Ryanair versus Aena

A THING OF THE PAST AT ALICANTE

Ryanair are threatening to withdraw 80% of their flights at Alicante airport, Aena are insisting that all flights must be boarded by the airbridges in the new terminal, this according to Ryanair will increase boarding and passenger arrival times and cost them annually 2 million euros extra, the boarding and arrival is normally achieved through front and rear doors of the aircraft and the airbridge will mean only the front doors can be used which will drastically increase their 25 minute turnaround time. At present Ryanair are responsible for 4 million passengers passengers passing through Alicante if they do withdraw it will bring it down to 1,5 million, Around 12 UK routes will disappear including Bournemouth, Doncaster, Humberside, Manchester,Stanstead, Gatwick, East Midlands, Leeds Bradford, Edinburgh, Liverpool, Birmingham and Bristol.
It has been reported that Budget airline Air Berlin are prepared take up the routes if they are dropped by Ryanair.
Ryanair of cause would also be losing a substantial revenue so i imagine will try to locate at another airport, none would be so handy for Benidorm and the coastal strip to Torrevieja, but there is the new Murcia airport at Corvera due start taking and recieving flights late summer 2011, and the wonderfull Murcia San Javier.

Ryanair Mutiny

Trouble started on a the tarmac of a Ryanair flight due to fly to Belgium from Lanzarote, when Ryanair staff attempted to charge a passenger for excess baggage, most of the rest of the passengers joined with the protest. and the pilot through the control tower called for police assistance, 104 passengers were removed from the plane and not allowed to reboard, only 64 passengers continued with the flight to Charleroi in Belgium. The passengers left behind had to find different carriers or other forms of transport.
Flying with Ryanair is a bit of a challenge, If you dont have a computer printer handy or know someone who does it will cost you another 40 pounds, if you cant print your own boarding card. unless your hand baggage is in a regulation size case there is every chance you will be charged extra for it, you do really have to have an interpreter to understand cabin crew instructions, and the 3 pound a cup of coffee tastes terrible, but we all still fly with Ryanair because even after the hidden addons when purchasing a ticket, it works generally out cheaper, - that is as long as you dont break the rules, Starting or joining a mutiny might give some satisfaction but in the end more expense and inconvenience. In my opinion the only answer is pay a few more euros or pounds and fly with another carrier, if a good proportion of people did this for long enough, Ryanair would have to do something about there appalling customer service/relationship.

Standing room only

overloaded plane
Ryanair are considering taking the seats out of their planes to create vertical travelling, apparently there would be stool type things to lean against, and be strapped onto. Also there are plans that you will have to carry your own hold luggage to the aircraft and away again at point of arrival, unless you pay for the service. with the possibility of coin operated toilets, a fat tax, and definitely lousy coffee. They are certainly leading the way.
From experience, you may book a cheap flight, but by the time the taxes and extras are added on it works out more expensive than the other budget airlines, and the service is poor as well.
