The New Parque Canada Marsa

The Parque Canada Marsa area at Benimar is nearly completed we had a walk round the other day and it is very pleasant with a large lake, with waterfall, a childrens play area, and plenty of seating, the park is overlooked by the terraced seating of several bars and restaurants including El Mundo de Espana (formerly "The Pub") so this is a bonus for them. The lake has been stocked with fish but they dont have much cover as yet.
Further towards Rojales the new centro commercial is taking shape well, apart from there being a large Consom Supermercado other retail units will be incorporated in the building, hopefully this will be the start of the rest of the complex being developed.

Centro Commercial

WHERES THE CARREFOUR?Unfinished Centro commercial
When work first started clearing the area the news was that the commercial centre at Benimar would be finished by the end of 2008. since then the developer has changed and although the infrastructure is in place work has totally stopped. whether the companies who were rumoured to be taking retail space have pulled out,who knows,One thing, at least the street lights are not on at night, whereas at the barren development on the Quesada to Torrevieja road (just outside Quesada)hundreds of street lights are on for no reason whatsoever. What a waste of power.
However work is proceeding on putting the infrastructure in for the residential development between Benimar and Benijofar(near Studz,The pub) so maybe some of the properties have been sold off plan.

Cheap cheap dinners!

The Head Chef at work

Last night we went to The Pub in Benimar as they have started an "Early Bird" special between 6-8pm every Tuesday.
This week the meal consisted of a satisfying minestrone soup, followed by a delicious spagetti bolognaise with garlic bread. We were very impressed by the high standard of the food and quality of service, and for only 5.50 euros, what a bargain!

Although currently the early bird is only once weekly, we enjoy visiting The Pub regularly for its comfortable and relaxing atmosphere and friendly staff. Whether you are a regular or a newcomer, you are sure to feel welcome at The Pub!

They also run events- last year they organised a Children in Need charity night which was fantastic fun- the staff participated in a variety show with some truly amusing moments. Now advertised is their special Valentines dinner, bookings being taken now and their 1940's themed night. They also have a three course Sunday lunch each week, which is well worth going along for!

Mention our Blog if you visit The Pub!

Quiz night at Woodys

Decided to have a night out last night so we went over to Woodys at Benimar for a drink and a joined in the fun quiz. Free to enter with six categories, and a bottle of wine for the winning team for each category, the questions were meant to be quite easy, but we were a disgrace and came last, we did a little better with family fortunes, and actually won a bottle of wine in the "Play your cards right" game, Where the rolled over prize was €158 which was skillfully won by one of the players.
