Royal honeymoon

The Mayor of Benidorm has sent a formal invitation to Buckingham Palace inviting Prince William and Kate Middleton to spend their honeymoon in Benidorm, He believes that should they take him up on the offer they would spend an unforgettable few days very close to their fellow Brits, security guarantees are offered and an excellent climate.
They would also have and excellent choice of high class accommodation, and all inclusive available if required.
Royal insiders believe it would be unlikely the offer will be taken up, Although Benidorm as a venue for a no holds barred stag and hen night might be a possibility.

Hello Benidorm

Its been a couple of years since we went to Benidorm. as Phil and Irene were there from the UK for a weeks holiday, we booked a night in the same hotel, all inclusive, so we could spend some time with them. As we payed very little for the aparthotel room. we wondered what it would be like but when we arrived at around 11.45 the hotel receptionist let us check in straight away into the spacious, clean 1 bedroom apartment. We met up with Phil and Irene and went for lunch, the food was very good, hot and with plenty of choice, this was the case throughout our stay. Usually with the bar in an all inclusive hotel you end up in along queue for drinks but although the hotel was full, service was extremely quick.
After the urbanisations of the Vega Baja the Benidorm skyscrapers are quite imposing and since we were last there a new bus station and fire station have been built. There seemed to be a lot of holidaymakers around so maybe they are going to have a good year, in fact, New statistics are showing that tourism to Spain has risen for the first time in 18 months with 119000 more tourists arriving in January this year, making a total off 2.66 billion, half a million of those being Brits.
Only an 1 hour and a quarter drive from Guardamar, it is certainly another world for us for a couple of days.

Benidorm Beach Clamp Down

Benidorm City council have introduced new legislation that is going to affect most people in one way or another, so make sure you know the new laws or you could end up well out of pocket.
1 You cannot enter the beach between Midnight and 07:00hrs. Penalty 750 Euros
2 You must not place parasols and towels to reserve space. Penalty 150 Euros
3 No playing ball games outside designated areas. Penalty 120 Euros
4 Swimming when red flag is flying. Penalty 1000 Euros
5 Peeing in the sea. Penalty 120 Euros (beware there maybe frogmen swimming round testing the water near you!)
6 Building Sandcastles. Penalty 150 Euros
7 Fishing with a rod, net or harpoon. Penalty 750-1100 euros
8 Drinking alcohol on the beach. Penalty 750 Euros
9 Sex on the beach. Penalty 750 Euros.
I agree with the swimming penalty, as quite often others lives are put at risk to rescue people who get into difficulty. but the some of the others seem over the top.

Firemen needed

Apparently there is a shortage of Firemen especially around the Benidorm area. Last weekend in Villajoyosa, Altea, and Benidorm there were five different fires, in a short period of time and firemen had to leave unextinquished fires to deal with the more serious ones. Thank goodness there were no lives in danger.
